1. Is a team suit required?
No, but a competitive-style suit (like jammers for boys) is highly recommended.
2. What if we can’t make every practice?
That’s okay—enjoy summer! Come as often as you can. The more you're here, the more you benefit.
3. Does my child need goggles?
Yes.
4. Does my child need a swim cap?
Recommended for long hair. At minimum, hair should be pulled back.
5. Can younger siblings use the kiddie pool during practice?
No, it’s closed for cleaning and requires a lifeguard to be open.
6. My child needs floaties to swim—can they join?
Not yet. Start with swim lessons. Once they can swim unassisted across the pool, they’re ready. Children will have to pass a test given by Coach Betsy before they are able to fully join. Ability levels required to join vary based on age.
7. Do we have to compete in swim meets?
Not required but strongly encouraged for team bonding and improvement. To swim at League, your child must compete in 2 meets and have a seed time.
8. Do we have to volunteer at meets?
Yes, we need you! It is required that one adult from each family volunteers at each meet. Most roles require no experience—just willingness and team spirit.
9. What should we expect at meets?
Arrive early for warm-ups. Times for each meet will be communicated via the Remind App.
Bring:
Goggles (yes, bring extra!)
Towel
Sunscreen
Snacks & drinks
Swim cap
Event # and stroke written on forearm
Adults will want to bring chairs
10. What if we signed up for a meet or volunteer slot but need to cancel?
Update Signup Genius and message Coach Betsy on Remind ASAP. Good communication = respect!
11. Can my older swimmer join even with other sports?
Absolutely! Just let Coach Betsy know if they need to leave early for another activity.
12. Can I talk to a coach during practice?
Please message or call outside of practice—coaches need to stay focused on swimmer safety and instruction.
13. Can older swimmers help with younger ones?
Yes, please speak with Coach Betsy for more information. A training session will be held the first week to go over safety, skills, and expectations.
